Pussycat Dolls: Carmit Barchar’s Medical Mission With Operation Smile
It seems that the new year will be a busy blast for the Pussycat Dolls as the girls’ blogs not only hint at a possible new album, but also a new season of Pussycat Dolls Present. In fact, founder Doll Robin Antin is already getting the second season underway.
Aside from the upcoming major activities, the Pussycat Dolls are individually taking advantage of the break to cater to their other endeavors, which include traveling and doing charity work among others. For Carmit Barchar, she’s currently busy pursuing a charitable endeavor which means a lot to her.
Carmit recently teamed up with Operation Smile, “a worldwide children’s medical charity dedicated to helping improve the health and lives of children and young adults born with facial deformities.” This is something Carmit feels passionate about, as she was also born with a cleft palate herself. She had just come back from Bolivia with Operation Smile, and she has all good news about her trip. She also talked about her own charitable organization called “Smile with Me” on her Pussycat Dolls blog.
Carmit wrote, “In November I took a creative team of five, which included my mom;), and we went on a medical mission with Operation Smile to Bolivia…This was a journey of a lifetime with rewards beyond words…..we had all kinds of creative activities for the kids during the screening process and before surgery.”
Moreover, someone had caught Carmit’s attention while she was working with him on an art project.
“There was this boy named Carlos Andres, he was 9 years old. He had never painted before in his life and he went to town painting the whole canvas with details like a natural!” Carmit said. “His mother never even knew he was interested or had a gift in that area. I hope we inspired him to follow his creativity wherever it takes him…. we even made him a special care package filled with art supplies.”
Carmit added that her interest in the arts coupled with her needed corrective surgery, helped in her overall recovery and led her to become who she is today. She was very touched by the chance to work with these children on creative endeavors, aside from seeing the medical aspect.
Carmit was also impressed with all the medical staff who volunteered on the mission. She said, “Its truly phenomenal what these doctors accomplish, not to mention they all volunteer!”
Feeling very inspired, she said, “This is just the beginning and I can’t wait to start planning the future for Smile With Me!”

Pussycat Dolls Present: Carmit Bachar is a “smile Ambassador”
Detractors of the Pussycat Dolls and their multilayered franchise have often decried them as risqué, pandering to lowbrow sex appeal in their burlesque performances, and generally being borderline smutty rather than a real musical act. Critics should take note, however, that wiggling their curves onstage isn’t the only thing that Pussycat Dolls are known for. Take Carmit Bachar, for example â?? this redhead who goes by the moniker of “Foxy Doll” is presently involved with Operation Smile, a medical charity organization dedicated to helping children born with facial deformities. Not a bad turn for someone who was previously lauded for having a ‘bon-bon’ most well-known for being Ricky Martin’s Living La Vida Loca girl.
Earlier in her life, Bachar was born with a cleft palate, a condition that gave her a lot of trouble eating and just generally living a normal life. Though she eventually received proper treatment, she still remains strongly sympathetic to other people suffering from similar problems and conditions, especially young children. Nowadays, she’s using her popular clout as an entertainer to back Operation Smile’s efforts, working as a designated “Smile Ambassador” to help garner support and funding for the cause, which provides corrective surgery for such facial deformities.
She joined the ranks of celebrities supporting Operation Smile in 2007, standing alongside the likes of Mariah Carey, Roselyn Sanchez, and Dhani Jones. Also working with them is Jessica Simpson, who has been assigned as the International Youth Ambassador for Operation Smile. During an interview, Bachar further elaborated on her personal involvement in the program, especially given her own troubled background. She stated that no child deserved to grow up with such deformities, and she would work hard to help combat the stigma and shame attached to them. Bachar will be taking some time off from the Pussycat Dolls in order to concentrate her support efforts in Bolivia.
