Pussycat Dolls Present: Carmit Bachar is a “smile Ambassador”

Detractors of the Pussycat Dolls and their multilayered franchise have often decried them as risqué, pandering to lowbrow sex appeal in their burlesque performances, and generally being borderline smutty rather than a real musical act. Critics should take note, however, that wiggling their curves onstage isn’t the only thing that Pussycat Dolls are known for. Take Carmit Bachar, for example â?? this redhead who goes by the moniker of “Foxy Doll” is presently involved with Operation Smile, a medical charity organization dedicated to helping children born with facial deformities. Not a bad turn for someone who was previously lauded for having a ‘bon-bon’ most well-known for being Ricky Martin’s Living La Vida Loca girl.

Earlier in her life, Bachar was born with a cleft palate, a condition that gave her a lot of trouble eating and just generally living a normal life. Though she eventually received proper treatment, she still remains strongly sympathetic to other people suffering from similar problems and conditions, especially young children. Nowadays, she’s using her popular clout as an entertainer to back Operation Smile’s efforts, working as a designated “Smile Ambassador” to help garner support and funding for the cause, which provides corrective surgery for such facial deformities.

She joined the ranks of celebrities supporting Operation Smile in 2007, standing alongside the likes of Mariah Carey, Roselyn Sanchez, and Dhani Jones. Also working with them is Jessica Simpson, who has been assigned as the International Youth Ambassador for Operation Smile. During an interview, Bachar further elaborated on her personal involvement in the program, especially given her own troubled background. She stated that no child deserved to grow up with such deformities, and she would work hard to help combat the stigma and shame attached to them. Bachar will be taking some time off from the Pussycat Dolls in order to concentrate her support efforts in Bolivia.
